Yiannis Karakasis MW
Yiannis Karakasis MW (Master of Wine) is one of the 389 Masters of Wine in the world, a title which is considered to be the top in the wine industry. He writes, consults and educates about wine. He is the founder of the blog karakasis.mw communicating Greek wine in the world. He is the author of two books: the e-book The Vineyards and Wines of Greece 2017 (English version) and the Natural Wines in Greece which was published in 2018. He is a consultant for several businesses including hotel groups and restaurants and co-founder of the First Growth Wine School in, Cyprus. He is also the founder of the 50 Great Greek Wines Awards.
Marianna is an oenologist, a 2003 graduate of Technological Educational Institute of Athens and one of the first WSET Diploma holders in Greece. She is the General Secretary of Panhellenic Oenologist Assosiation and an active member of the Association of Greek Sommeliers. Her background combines the business and academic sides of wine. She worked at WSPC, the Greek branch of WSET London for six years and she is one of the two founders of the wine blog winetuned.com. At present, she is a wine consultant to House of Wine and organizer of the Peloponnese Wine Festival in Athens and Cyprus.
Grigoris Michailos Dip WSET
Gregory has been involved in the Greek gastronomy sector almost forever and he developed a love for wine in his family’s restaurant. In 2009 he became a WSET diploma graduate and after that he pursued wine as a full-time profession. He collaborates as a wine educator with Enterprise Greece and Wines of Greece in order to promote Greek wine in the export markets of Japan, Korea, China and Australia. He contributes in Grape Wine Stories magazine and Meininger’s wine Business International and he is a senior lecturer for WSPC – a Greek APP of WSET London – in all study levels. Along with Yiannis Karakasis MW they founded the wine blog winecommanders.com and now he contributes in Yiannis’ blog karakasis.mw. He is also co-organiser of the Peloponnese Wine Festival and Central Wine Fair exhibitions and since 2016 he collaborates with Mr.Vertigo a wine-cellar in the center of Athens.
