The first 50 GGW Conference!

With great success the first 50 GGW Conference took place on November 14, 2021, on the subject of Greek wine in 10 years, with coordinators Yiannis Karakasis MW and Gregory Michailos Dip WSET. The guests were important people of the wine scene.

Among them, Fernando Mora MW, professor S. Koundouras, José Vouillamoz (writer of Wine Grapes), Th. Georgopoulos, as well as the CEO of Wines of Greece, G. Vogiatzis.

The event was separated in 2 parts and held in webinar format.

In the first part, the following subjects were discussed:

  • Session 1: Old Vines: Keeping a unique treasure

  • Session 2: Indigenous varieties, after 10 years

  • Session 3: Legislation & Greek wine over the next decade

In the second part, 8 rare wines (non-commercially available) were tested by wineries that were awarded to the first 50 GGW in the light of the experimentation factor. Discussion followed in the presence of producers.
