We are excited to announce the second initiative of the new GGW | More cycle, which aims to raise the bar even higher for the promotion of Greek wine abroad. This year’s journey is opening up new markets, with the next stop being Belgium, a country with a mature and demanding wine culture, in two cities: Brussels and Ghent.
For the first time, Great Greek Wines will actively participate in the competition for the Best Belgian Sommelier, through two appearances that bring together the entire market: sommeliers, journalists, importers, and opinion leaders.
On October 5th in Brussels, during the semi-final and final, a Walk Around Tasting will take place featuring ten labels from this year’s GGW list. More than 120 top professionals will have the opportunity to taste Greek wines in an environment where international forces such as California Wines, Famille Perrin, Bellavista, and Filipa Pato are also present. This participation places Greek wine at the center of attention in a market with unique dynamics.
A few weeks later, on November 16th, Ghent will host the awards ceremony as part of an impressive gala dinner accompanying the country’s largest HORECA exhibition. Great Greek Wines will be showcased through a masterclass featuring twelve labels, curated by Christophe Heynen MW, one of the most renowned experts in the Belgian market. With Christophe’s active involvement and the presence of 120 guests representing the heart of the wine community, Greek wine will gain access to an audience with real influence over market trends and choices.
