Great Greek Wines in Moravia, Czech Republic
The mission of Great Greek Wines (GGW) is not just to showcase Greek wine, but to place it in new, unexpected scenes – in places you wouldn’t normally expect. This time, our journey led us to Moravia, in the heart of the Czech Republic’s wine country.
In the historic town of Valtice, home to the Czech National Wine Centre, Lenka Sedlackova MW, the only Master of Wine in the country, presented a curated selection of GGW wines to an audience of 30 winemakers and journalists.
The response was immediate, with the unique Greek varieties making a strong impression. Participants praised the distinct aromas and the depth hidden within the Greek vineyards.
But the event was about more than just taste. The discussion went deeper: What can Czech winemakers learn from the journey of Greek wines abroad? How can Greece’s “niche” wines earn their rightful place in competitive markets such as the UK?
GGW is not just about tastings. It’s about building connections, starting conversations, and showing that Greek wine belongs on the global wine map. No matter where we are, the goal remains the same: to highlight Greece’s true potential through the language of wine.
Moravia was just the beginning.
