50 Great Greek Wines shine bright in Belgium

In a spectacular showcase of Greek viticulture, Winewise Wine School in Belgium hosted in January 2024 a masterclass featuring wines from this year’s competition part. The event, organized by the 50 Great Greek Wines and the Master of Wine, Christophe Heynen, brought together 40 professionals from the wine industry in Belgium and the Netherlands. 16 award-winning wines were presented in total.

Christophe Heynen MW, one of this year’s judges, expressed his enthusiasm for the event and the outstanding selection of Greek wines. He shared, “What a great moment with such high-quality wine professionals from Belgium and the Netherlands in Antwerp to introduce a selection of 16 wines from the 2023 50 Great Greek Wines competition. The diversity of styles from autochthonous grapes from Greece is just amazing. Everyone was truly impressed by the quality and potential of the wines.”

The masterclass highlighted the big diversity of Greek wines, featuring styles ranging from white and rosé to orange and red, including the traditional retsina. The wines presented, represented the richness of Greece’s autochthonous grapes, captivating the palates of the guests.
