Registrations for the 50 Great Greek Wines 2022 (50GGW) are now officially closed exceeding our expectations! Over 150 wineries, with a total of 455 entries, will be taking part in the challenge of competing for a position among the 50GGW!
”We are delighted with this year’s entries. The fact that we have such a significant number of quality Greek wineries participating gives us the motivation to continue this very special project. We are looking forward to introducing the 50 fantastic wines that will comprise the new list to the world. I would also particularly like to thank our Sponsors and Gastronomy Partners for their support. I suppose that it is not by chance that we are trusted by large companies and the wine industry”, says the founder of 50 GGW, Master of Wine Yiannis Karakasis.
Development Manager Grigoris Michaelos Dip WSET comments: “Our aim is to highlight the quality of Greek wine to as many markets as possible, and to reach out and strengthen the message regarding the high quality of Greek wines altogether. We also aim to make Greek wine the great winner of this modern venture, which includes selecting the best Greek wines from the entries made”.
The competition will take place on 5-8th May 2022 at the historic canaves of Selene in Santorini.
A special ceremony will be held at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens on the 31st May 2022 to award the 50 Great Greek Wines for the year 2022.
